This day hike will allow you to experience the Andean countryside, Inca history and the breathtaking scenery of the Sacred Valley. It is a fantastic alternative to multi-day treks.

Itinerary

Start your full day adventure very early leaving from your hotel in Cusco towards the Sacred Valley until you reach the Piuray Lagoon in the town of Chinchero, where you will begin your 9 hour hike.

From the beginning of your adventure you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the Vilcabamba mountain range illuminated by the first rays of sunlight. You will hike uphill to the Pucajasa pass located at over 14,000 feet / 4,293 m. From there you will have a sweeping view of the mountains surrounding the Sacred Valley. Part of the descent will be over an ancient Inca trail. Upon arrival at the archaeological complex of Huchuy Qosqo you will have time for lunch and a rest before exploring this important Inca structure. Three-story stone buildings, double jamb portals, terraces, ceremonial enclosures, are part of the tour. At the end, you will start the descent to the village of Lamay, where the hike ends and your transfer will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Cusco.
