THE LITTLE CUSCO

For those who love short hikes with little traffic, the hike to Huchuy Qosqo is the best alternative. Huchuy Qosqo, “Little Cusco” in native language, is a beautiful and relatively short hike, which will take you through the impressive Andean landscapes surrounding Cusco and will allow you to learn about its historical, cultural and religious importance for the Andean man. This place is integrated with its natural environment, with terraced fields that once served for agriculture. Do not let time be an obstacle to enjoy this beautiful hike.

Itinerary

DAY 1: CUSCO – SICLLACASA PASS – PACAMARCA

This adventure begins in the outskirts of Cusco, in Tambomachay. You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the starting point of the hike. You will begin a moderate ascent with beautiful views of the city of Cusco to the Sicllacasa pass. From here, you will have the best views of the Ccauca Valley. You will arrive at the Qeullococha lagoon where lunch will be served. Then you will continue to the Challu Challu pass with beautiful views of the Piuray and Qoricocha lakes. Continue your ascent to the Rumicruz pass and then descend to the community of Pacamarca, near there you can camp. The hike is rewarded with beautiful views of snow-capped peaks and the observation of local wildlife.

DIA 2: HUCHUY QOSQO – LAMAY – CUSCO

After an energetic Andean breakfast, you will start the day’s trek. You will start a descent on an Inca stone road, cross an Inca bridge until you reach the archaeological center of Huchuy Qosqo located on the side of a mountain. Once there you will have enough time to explore this impressive Inca complex. Three-story stone buildings, double jamb portals, terraces, ceremonial enclosures, are part of the tour.

You will enjoy lunch in this place before starting the descent to the village of Lamay, where the hike ends and your transfer will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Cusco.
